Skin Care Routines
It is never too late to start a proper skin care routine that can help you obtain healthy, radiant looking skin. Aging gracefully does not happen by accident.
A good skin care routine always starts with proper cleansing. Mild cleansers, warm water not hot and a regular scrub are essential to maintaining healthy skin. Your routine should start by washing your face morning and night with a mild cleanser and on a weekly basis using a mild facial scrub. The scrub will wash away all of those dry skin cells that aren’t removed by regular cleansing. Consider using facial cleansing cloths when you’re not at home to make cleansing a snap at any time.
Astringents should not be used unless you have excessively oily skin as they tend to contain a lot of alcohol which will encourage dry skin.
Moisturizing both day and night also should be a regular part of your skin care routine. Use an oil free moisturizer with UV protection during the day and a penetrating moisturizer for night time use. Most manufacturers also have products that target specific areas such as eyes and lips to provide selected formulas for those sensitive areas. A regular penetrating moisturizer may be too harsh for the eyes and lips. Be sure to apply the regular moisturizer over your neck and hands as well.
We don’t often think of our diet when we consider which skin care routines work best but proper nutrition and the foods we eat should also be part of our skin care routine. Our skin is mostly water and needs to be nourished from the inside in order to ensure our skin remains moist and smooth. Our diet should consist of plenty of water, fruits, vegetables and proteins in order for our skin to remain healthy as well. Chocolate, candy, and oily or greasy foods should be consumed in moderation.
A regular skin care routine will keep you looking younger and healthier for life.
